Nicolas Mamounas

Nicolas Mamounas, one of the most influential perfumers of his time, began his journey in the world of perfumery at a young age. Mamounas joined the esteemed house Rochas in 1970, following in the footsteps of Guy Robert, the first perfumer of the brand’s house. As Rochas’s in-house perfumer for 17 years, Mamounas played a key role in the brand’s growth and expansion. His creative vision and exceptional skill enabled him to create some of the most iconic and long-lasting fragrances in the brand’s history. His first creation, Byzantium, was an oriental and spiced juice that he developed in collaboration with Alberto Morillas. This marked the beginning of Mamounas’s successful period at Rochas. In 1970, he created Eau de Rochas, a fresh and aromatic perfume for women that has since become a true icon of perfumery. The immense popularity of the fragrance led to the launch of a men’s version in 1993. In addition to Eau de Rochas, Mamounas developed other timeless fragrances for the brand, including Mystère, Macassar, Globe and Lumière Original. These scents reflected his unique approach to creating perfumes and cemented his reputation as a master perfumer.
