Christopher Sheldrake is a well-regarded perfumer in the fragrance industry. He was born in the United Kingdom and grew up with a love for the arts. Sheldrake studied art history at university and, after graduating, traveled extensively around the world, immersing himself in different cultures and artistic expressions. It was during his travels that Sheldrake discovered his passion for fragrances.
In the early 1980s, Sheldrake moved to Paris, where he began his career in the fragrance industry. He worked for Quest and Shiseido before joining the perfume house of Serge Lutens in 1992. Under Lutens’ mentorship, Sheldrake developed a deep understanding and appreciation for the art of perfumery.
Together, Sheldrake and Lutens created some of the iconic and beloved fragrances in the niche perfume world. Sheldrake was instrumental in the creation of Lutens’ scents, including Ambre Sultan and Chergui. Sheldrake’s creativity and technical expertise helped push the boundaries of traditional fragrance.
In 2012, Sheldrake joined Chanel as the house’s perfumer. His work at Chanel includes the creation of Coco Noir, a modern version of the classic Coco fragrance.
Throughout his career, Sheldrake has remained committed to using the highest-quality ingredients and original techniques to create unique and unforgettable fragrances. He has earned a reputation for being a master perfumer and an artist in his own right.
