Oriental perfumery has options for every budget, and sometimes I find here what European houses have cost me a fortune to discover. Thanks to friends like Darkbeat, doors open to distant worlds. Urbanist Prive Silver is a modern, creamy, and balanced composition with longevity and sillage that satisfy me. It’s a semi-obscure product of great quality, masculine, spiced, and peppery, with nothing to envy from perfumes that triple its price. Very versatile, perfect for going out or special occasions, it deserves a spot in any collection. I loved it immensely.

Urbanist Prive Silver by Al Haramain smells like a real man… but the real deal. The opening isn’t sharp or loud; it’s a ‘big man’ opening: potent tobacco, even reminiscent of old neighborhood shoe stores, of everything that has lived and been chemically treated. The honey comes through a bit, but the oud in my nose knocks me out with some serious hits. It always happens to me with this type of wood or its imitation: it’s like stepping into a ring ready to fight and ending up knocked out. It’s a masculine, woody, vintage fragrance that modernizes with a touch of sweetness. I don’t know what’s happening to me, but it smells like an American trucker on the highways with logs, stopping to smoke a pipe; something very strong and rugged. My partner smells much more honey in it; it becomes affable, sweet, and woody with that shoe-store oud; it gives him the look of a well-dressed, charismatic guy with personality. But on me, it feels like a kick to the shins. What a pity, I was so excited, while my partner is thrilled. Thanks Darkbeat, I loved this experience, plus it has championship-level longevity.

This perfume instantly transported me back to the eighties… it reminds me of my uncle who had a very similar one. I was little back then and I don’t know which one it was. Suddenly, I’m back with afternoons of kids-vs-parents football games, the candies afterwards, and the laughter. It smells of tobacco, honey, hazelnuts, and sandalwood. It doesn’t vary much on my skin, but the sweetness intensifies, and after a few hours it becomes slightly medicinal as it dries down. I liked it, but I wouldn’t buy the bottle.

What a gorgeous fragrance! It starts with light pipe tobacco, definitely not Ducados or Celtas Cortos. Very soft and honeyed, I’m surprised not to notice any fine liquor. It’s a shame I don’t perceive much of the hazelnut note, but rather hints of fine caramel toast, all wrapped in an avianilla base of sandalwood and a very light oud that gives it a subtly woody and smoky aspect. It’s a warm, woody aroma, slightly spicy and a bit powdery, without being too creamy or dusty. It’s very versatile for all times, but for me, better at night than during the day. In extreme cold or heat, it would go unnoticed, and that would be a sin. Its sillage is moderate in an elegant fragrance that is nothing overwhelming; it’s about leaving a subtle mark. Very seductive. It lasted about six hours on my skin. It’s unisex and very Western; it wouldn’t clash with any overrated niche. A very beautiful fragrance for a gentleman of the few who remain. I wouldn’t wear it because I quit smoking seven years ago and I don’t want to fall back into the temptation; this perfume would make it too easy. But it was a pleasure to enjoy it for a few days; every time I like it more. Many thanks to my friend Darkbeat.

What a beautiful fragrance! It starts with a light pipe tobacco, definitely not Ducados or Celtas Cortos. Very soft and honeyed; I’m surprised a fine liqueur isn’t missing. It’s a shame the hazelnut note is so subtle, preferring instead fine toasted caramel traces over a vanilla-sandalwood base with a light oud that adds a woody, smoky touch. Warm and woody aroma, slightly spicy and talcum-like, without being too creamy or powdery. Very versatile for all year round, though for me it’s better at night; in extreme cold or heat, it fades away, which would be a sin for the makers of Padrenuestro and 7 Avemarías. The sillage is moderate, elegant, and not overwhelming—it’s about leaving a subtle mark. Very seductive. It lasted about 6 hours on my skin. Unisex and very Western; it wouldn’t clash with any overrated niche. Very pretty for a gentleman of the few who remain. I wouldn’t wear it myself since I quit smoking 7 years ago and don’t want to fall back into temptation, but it was a joy to enjoy it for a few days; I like it more each time. Many thanks to my friend Darkbeat.

The opening is sweet, with hints of tobacco and nuts—very attractive and modern without being cloying. The real magic happens during the dry-down: as the sweetness fades, a woody tone emerges where the oud really shines. I love this transition; the oud doesn’t smell medicinal or weird, it just adds the perfect salt to give character to the woods. That contrast between seduction and the seriousness of its evolution makes it super versatile for any occasion. Plus, the performance is above average without being intrusive, and the price of around €20 for 100ml doesn’t fit the ‘designer’ category it might belong to. It’s a great option for anyone looking for something modern, uncomplicated, suitable for both formal events and daily wear, noticeable enough to stand out, with that exotic oud twist setting it apart from the rest.

A sweet, fresh woody scent that doesn’t overdo it, with a very well-balanced opening of tobacco and hazelnuts; it’s like opening a pack of light tobacco with hazelnuts inside, where the scent mixes with the aroma impregnated in the tobacco—a strange combination with a smoky or caramelized-toasted touch, very original and delicious. Then, the scent becomes creamier, and you notice the sandalwood, but caramelized and toasted. The final dry-down is exquisite: the oud is perceived as very soft and nothing wild, bathed in vanilla and honey; although it might seem cloying, it isn’t because they’re so well-executed that neither stands out or invades, contributing just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess without overshadowing that precious, nuanced oud wood. I loved it. Longevity is good, about 7 hours, and the sillage is moderate-to-low, projecting well at first, then you need to get closer. A very good perfume for daytime use in warm or temperate climates.

A sweet, fresh woody scent that doesn’t overdo it or get cloying. The opening is soft, featuring tobacco and hazelnuts that smells like an open pack of light tobacco: the hazelnut scent blends with the tobacco-impregnated paper, creating a strange, smoky, caramelized-toasted combination that’s very original and delicious. Then it becomes creamy, and sandalwood appears, also caramelized and toasted. The dry-down is exquisite; the oud is very soft, nothing wild, bathed in vanilla and honey that, while they might seem cloying, aren’t because they’re so well-executed that neither stands out or invades, contributing just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess without overshadowing that precious, nuanced oud wood.
