Smeraldo by Sylvaine Delacourte is an unisex fragrance from the olfactive family. Launched in 2016, it was created by perfumer Irene Farmachidi. The top notes of angelica, yuzu, pear, and vetiver give way to a heart of hawthorn flower, lentisc resin, and pine needles, closing with a base of lime, rose, and cedar.

I arrived with some hesitation after reading harsh reviews, but honestly, it’s not that bad. What doesn’t quite work for me is how the notes aren’t well-captured, except maybe the vegetal touch of juniper and angelica… and the rose, which smells more like jam, very sweet. It reminds me of certain olfactory chords used a lot out there, but I can’t quite identify them. It’s not my style, so I’ll pass on the butterfly, hehe.
