  It’s a delight, one of my brother’s favorites. It smells clean and has a very rich trail. I don’t know how to define it: it’s soft but lasts well, it’s not intrusive, and the scent is very refined. In the end, the dry-down is powdery-soapy. A woman could easily wear it. I recommend it; it’s an undervalued and somewhat hard-to-find Cavalli fragrance. Maybe I’ll pick up a bottle; it doesn’t matter if I use it, my brother just fascinates me.

  I agree with ALICIA: it’s a delight, no ambiguity. As a user of the Diesel Fuel for Life Denim Collection Homme and Fuel for Life Homme, I remembered them the moment I smelled it. I think it’s a line aimed at a younger crowd (15~25 years old), but in Cavalli Black’s case, it defies age boundaries; it can feel youthful or more ‘adult’. Interestingly, the first thing I noticed were the middle notes: white pepper, lavender, and geranium, which I’ve been very familiar with lately. What strikes me is its subtlety; nothing comes across as rough as with the Diesel scents. If I had to pick a close relative, it would be Fuel for Life Homme (no coincidence, both are Aromatic Fougères). It’s not tremendously fresh, but I recommend it for spring and autumn evenings. How many times have I said I love a fragrance?… It’s a gem in my collection. P.S.: Azuriiita helped me track it down, as she says it’s discontinued.

  Found it by accident and loved it instantly. It’s fresh, clean, and durable enough for a daily wear. It’s not complex, but that doesn’t make it boring; it’s simple, honest, and uplifting. It’s a pity my bottle is running low… and I’m afraid I won’t be able to find it again.

  Used it again today, one of my favorites: Roberto Cavalli Black. Adding to what I’ve said before (hope I’m not contradicting myself). It’s a wonderful Oriental Fougère, a clean scent very much in the vein of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male, Prada Amber Pour Homme, or Cuba Paris Gold (the Le Male clone, as everyone knows). I used to compare it with Diesel Fuel for Life Denim Collection Homme and Fuel for Life Homme due to their youthful vibe and because they’re also Oriental Fougères (a sort of ‘sweet herbal’ aroma if you can imagine it). The top notes are cilantro, tarragon, and bamboo; the heart features white pepper, lavender, and geranium; and the base is tonka bean, musk, and cedar. It’s a shame it seems discontinued—I have a 50ml bottle and can’t bear to use it up…

  First grabbed it back in 2017, and as of 2024 I finally found a tester at a great price. It’s proof that simple doesn’t mean generic; I haven’t found anything quite like it. White Musk for Men (or Blue Musk) gets close on the musk but lacks the spice, while Le Male has the spice but misses that soft musky warmth. F Black by Ferragamo has a similar structure but feels rougher and drier, with a fruity dry-down instead of bamboo and tonka bean instead of musk. Midnight in Paris is discontinued and costs a fortune, and I haven’t tried Prada Black yet. It’s an oriental fougère with a bamboo and spicy (white pepper) opening alongside clean lavender, drying down to musk with a talc-like touch and tonka bean. Performance is short but well-balanced between modern and 90s retro vibes; truly unique. Slightly sweet, so I recommend it for spring. Just a heads-up: it contains Lyral.
