I bought Neblina blindfolded just for the name—that sacred peak straddling Brazil and Venezuela, deep in the jungle. It’s a hard-to-reach place, full of permits and political mystery, a truly unique ecological corner. And… well, it disappointed me a bit. I expected something more magical coming from there. What I found was an intense exotic fruit that barely lets a pale orchid breathe, fading into a deep, dark green. I can’t deny it’s original and not bad, but it just wasn’t for me. It hurts that it’s no longer available. Yves Rocher has always done a great job, innovating and making quality perfumes accessible to everyone. What a shame so many gems now live only in memory.

While reviewing my millennium collection, I found Yves Rocher’s Neblina. Like the orchid that inspired it, it’s hidden in the mist over pristine mineral soils at the summit. Deep in the Amazon, among stones and endemic greens, a fragile unknown flower offered itself in three distinct aromas, identified by chromatography, declining into two complementary fragrances: the Dawn and the Night of a wild ecosystem. It’s a different, original, intense, floral, and chlorophyll-rich fragrance, with a fresh opening and a floral heart that lingers on the skin with a complex base. Smelling it brings back my trip to Austria where I discovered it in Salzberg, in a small, warm shop in the Alps. And I remember a slogan that was one of the most beautiful: ‘Between sky and earth, feeling like another woman’.

It was a very special perfume with a unique scent that wasn’t repeated back then; it transported you straight to the Amazon rainforest and lasted forever. The bottle was gorgeous, what a shame it’s no longer sold.
