This is what cardamomo should smell like, a marvel! Without a doubt, it’s the best cardamomo I’ve ever smelled. The highlight is the blend of vetiver and coffee in the heart that continues until the end, where the cardamomo remains present but as a companion. Easily one of the top 5 fragrances I’ve smelled, having 70 in my collection. I’ve fallen in love with this great gem of perfumery.
Madras Cardamom is a fragrance I’ve really enjoyed; it has phases with coffee, citrus, woods, and spices. In the opening, fresh notes of citrus, cardamomo, and roasted coffee are delicious in the first few minutes. A few minutes later, the citrus and coffee fade, but the cardamomo remains while woody notes like vetiver and ambroxan emerge, along with something balsamic and mentholated, which I assume is labdanum. This final phase is very pleasant and wearable. Overall, it’s woody yet fresh, similar to Terre d’Hermès without smelling alike, but it keeps that elegant, semi-formal, slightly mature touch. I consider it multi-seasonal, suitable for all year. It lasted over 10 hours on me, though it doesn’t project much. I’ve really liked it, and without diminishing its quality, the price in Mexico still seems high for the entire Zegna line.
Wow, what a treat! I’m testing it on skin; it projects heavily for 3 hours with just two applications. Then it drops to a bubble of about 20 cm and stays there for another 4 hours, until it fades to skin level by the tenth hour where it’s barely perceptible. It’s a bit pricey and not a unique scent; it resembles King of the Game by Playboy and Halloween Man X due to the shared cardamomo and coffee note, but Zegna takes several steps ahead in naturalness and projection (in my opinion), though that vetiver makes it different. I got it on promotion at Palacio de Hierro with a gift (Acqua di Neroli), which encouraged me to buy it, especially since, as Beto Ruiz says, the price is steep. Is it worth it? For me, yes. In YouTube reviews, one praises it while another says it’s expensive for what it offers. So, even though I love it, I don’t recommend buying it blindly.
A great fragrance overall, but not ideal when the thermometer rises because it loses its presence. The cardamomo hits hard and signals quality, then softens to embrace coffee and vetiver. Ambroxan is barely noticeable, though there’s a pleasant touch of labdanum. Madras Cardamom grabs attention instantly; you might never have felt such a pure, natural cardamomo before. It’s aggressive and direct, like a sprint. It doesn’t just smell like grains; you almost feel them in your olfactory bulb. Rarely is it this crisp; for cardamomo lovers, Zegna could have launched the Holy Grail. That knocks me out (positively). After an hour and a half, it becomes softer, rounder, and warmer, losing a bit of power and surprise. But in perfumes, it’s not the only one that stands out in the top notes. It’s a scent created to please generally. This Zegna creation is a soft, spicy roller coaster that will win your friendship quickly and attract many noses. Of course, not everyone will like this spice cloud. It offers much more than concentrated cardamomo, making it powerful, multifaceted, elegant, and bold. A specialized fragrance that does its thing notably, perhaps a new benchmark. The price is high, as it projects at first before settling closer to the skin. Lasts about 7 hours on me with a captivating and elegant aroma, perfect for dates or meetings requiring distinction. A good proposition, but better to try before deciding.
