Kaaf Noir is not a dark, heavy, or nighttime fragrance as the bottle suggests. To me, it doesn’t resemble Aventus Absolu, Bleu de Chanel, or D&G K either. The opening feels like orange, cardamom, and something botanical (junier?). It’s fresh, but not in the typical sense of an aquatic scent or fresh out of the shower. It has a green, herbal side. Once it settles, lavander, sage, cedar, and an ambroxan-heavy base come out more. This gives it a clean, dry, woody, and somewhat musk y feel. It’s also one of those fragrances that can cause olfactory fatigue quickly. Performance is good, especially after letting it sit for a while. It projects better than it seems and lasts quite a while, especially on clothes. There’s no need to overspray because it becomes dense and can be tiring. I bought both: Kaaf Extrait and Kaaf Noir. Kaaf Noir:
– A stately perfume. If you’re under 35, I don’t recommend it.
– It smells good, but it’s a scent that reminds me a bit of the perfumes my father used in his youth.
– I feel it has the vibes of the classic Perri Ellis 360 (Blue Bottle). A 90s classic.
– Elegant style.
– For day and night wear.
– It can be a bit heavy to use daily.
– Being in my thirties, I’ll stick with the synthetic but pleasant and modern Kaaf Extrait (Blue Bottle).
What a tremendous release this Kaaf Noir is. It’s flying under the radar and is hard to find, but it’s well worth it. On the basis of the original Kaaf—that is, a clean blue fragrance, with that ‘metallic’ lavander reminiscent of Fierce—the aromatic and resinous facetes have been reinforced, making it darker, while maintaining the versatility of the Kaaf EDP (and extract). In part it reminds me of Fierce and also Loewe 7 Cobalt in the aromatic aspect. As with Kaaf extract, the oil concentration here is also extremely high, so it’s not a good idea to apply it to clothes if you don’t want to go around showing unsightly grease stains on your clothes. That tremendous concentration makes it last more than 10 hours on skin, but at the cost of a projection that will be moderate. Suitable for any climate and occasion. A Swiss Army knife with which you’ll never go wrong. I hope it reaches wider distriution, because I’d like to get another bottle.
