Cialenga by Balenciaga is a women's fragrance from the floral family. Launched in 1973, it was created by perfumer Jacques Jantzen. The top notes reveal a fresh green scent with black currant and citrus; the heart unfolds iris, ylang-ylang, lily of the valley, clove, jasmine, and rose extract; while the base notes settle into oakmoss, vetiver, Virginia cedar, sandalwood, and patchouli.

I first encountered this fragrance (Cialenga by Balenciaga, around 1978). The box was a brown design, and I even had the miniature bottle—what did I do? I wish I could go back and have my favorite perfume again. I felt fresh and clean, always receiving nice comments from people who smelled it. Now that I’m older, lately I want to smell like that era again, with healthy parties and tranquility, feeling like people follow you around asking what perfume you’re wearing. Sometimes (rarely) I wouldn’t say, not wanting others to wear the same scent. Who still sells this in Bogotá, Colombia? I’ve been looking everywhere and can’t find it. Can anyone clarify if the packaging changed or if it’s still the same? It wasn’t available back then, nor is it now, I know the fragrance existed, I just know I love it.
I stumbled upon Fabiola Santamaria on eBay out of curiosity and it turned out to be rich and long-lasting. Just a heads-up, I’m not sure if the formula changed or if the packaging is different since I bought it a while ago, but it smells just like I remember. There are plenty of vintage perfumes on eBay, but you have to be careful who you buy from because there’s a lot of junk and fakes out there, which is why I stick to reputable sites and serious sellers.
Vintage perfume, top-notch quality. Loads of moss with licorice and anise notes that smell fantastic. It clings to the skin incredibly well. It’s unisex, though nowadays it leans more feminine.
