Old House by Damfool Perfume: A Woody Spicy Fragrance That Dares to Be Different

Damfool Perfume enters 2025 with Old House, a new unisex fragrance with a woody spicy soul. Created by perfumer Waveman Kong, it's built from equal parts warmth, earthiness, and unexpected gourmand touches.

Right from the opening, Old House announces itself with blackcurrant and violet. It's a perfume that doesn't play it safe, and that's exactly what makes it worth a second look.

The top notes combine the tart fruitiness of blackcurrant with the powdery elegance of violet, setting up a contrast that carries through the whole wear. At the heart, clove, ylang-ylang, and lychee add a spicy, floral, and subtly sweet center that feels both exotic and familiar.

The base is where Old House really gets interesting. Soy sauce, vetiver, and saffron create an umami, salty-tinged foundation with earthy depth and a warm, goldden shimmer. Soy sauce is rare in perfumery, and here it gives the drydown a savory character you won't easily forget.

According to the official profile, the fragrance leans on warm spicy, woody, fruity, aromatic, earthy, yellow floral, and violet accords. That versatility makes Old House comfortable in both daytime and evening settings, especially if you prefer scents that spark conversation.

With a current rating of 3.67 out of 5 based on three reviews, Old House is clearly a polarizing creation. But for perfumery fans, those early votes often signal a distinctieve piece that takes time to grow on you.

Old House will appeal to adventorous fragrance lovers who enjoy spicy and woody compositions, and who aren't afraid of a little umami in their perfume. It's a great choice for anyone seeking an unusual unisex scent with real personality.

Old House is a bold, memorable release that proves Damfool Perfume still has surprises up its sleeve. If you're after something outside the usual department-store lineup, this is a scent worth adding to your testing list.

  1. A very balanced and complete fragrance. A recreation of the smell of an old house as its name suggests, feeling so at ease inside this house. Violet and blackcurrant recreate just what an old house should smell like, lychee and clove slightly symbolize this memory even more, soy sauce gives this fragrance a lot of play. In short, it’s a super distinct and interesting perfume! Thanks to Persylore niche perfumery for this discovery!
