  Smells like paper, and I’m not making that up—my wife told me that when she smelled it without knowing what it was. Who wants to smell like paper? Well, let’s save the library books with an unexpected twist: the base takes you to familiar territory, where the expected fits in: a challenging introduction, an unsettling middle, and an original finish. The tricky part is that, although it’s wood and spices plus something indefinable, I can’t identify the pyramid notes. So it’s rare, strange, and unique, not your usual stuff. It fits what you’d expect from “exclusive distribution” houses (what addicts call “niche,” a word I hate because it sounds like a tomb and is an anglicism that repulses me). I agree with many I’ve tried from those houses, without having to spend a quarter of a middle-class Argentine salary or a tenth of what a Mediterranean millionaire spends. In my opinion, it’s an excellent option as a curiosity, but there are better alternatives from the house for daily wear or special occasions, like Overdose.
