Creation 1984 by Ted Lapidus

A classic straight from other decades to your nose. While it might sound outdated to some, it doesn’t stop being precious. Creation is a bookish floral-chypre, much more pleasant than its peers. It has so many notes it’s hard to describe, but for me, the stars are the ylang-ylang that sweetens the flowers, the honey that envelops it, the ripe fruits, and the oakmoss that gives it that special character. The trail is notable and lasts between 7 and 8 hours. How beautiful it is to wear Creation and remember so many women in my life who used these fragrances when they were the height of fashion! Creation 1984 by Ted Lapidus is a beautiful example of an 80s floral. I think it’s better to include it in the floral-chypre family because it’s super loaded with flowers, moss, and patchouli. The honey note is very evident and super pretty; it reminds me of the style of Coco Chanel.

Thanks for the sample of Casablanca 77. Without your kindness, I would have missed a treasure. What is this? Velvet and silk in a bottle: living fruits like colors on brocade, printed silk and shiny velvet in light brown and green tones. It’s an imposing bloom, woody, and slightly oriental with a touch of soap. Citrus with peach and mango wakes me up; that interesting opening flows into a spectacular floral purrì. Then comes a forest heart of oakmoss and vetiver, elegant and balanced, surrounded by woods and creamy sandalwood that invites you to enjoy the olfactory show on the skin. It settles into an almost masculine base, woody and mossy, with a non-too-sweet finish, in balance between nature and elegance, perfect as a compass. Do such scents still exist? If the bottle doesn’t enchant you, remember that the content counts. Rarely is it as true as with the vintage version of Création.

Creation by Lapidus brings me a lot of joy and positivity, something vital. On my skin, with its age, the fruit is subtle, but its narcotic opening of fermented mango and papaya is a special potion, strong and charismatic from the start. What shines is the galbanum and the narcissus: a life-filled potency from the 80s that matures perfectly today when many perfumes fall flat. It’s like running happily through a field of flowers in full summer, with the sun and rapeseed fields in bloom that leave you dry from the intensity. Very potent, cheerful, and true to its time, but it maintains elegance thanks to the carnation and neroli that moderate the galbanum. I recommend it at all costs: it’s a jewel to collect, even at accessible prices, and it stands the test of time. Although it’s my favorite, try it first because it screams the 80s; look for miniatures second-hand. I’m considering the current version, which on my skin goes to honey and moss, darker and less summery, but it’s still an excellent chypre for its quality-price ratio.

A winter fetish I’ve worn for years that clings like a plaster to my skin. The longevity is brutal, lasting all day with a trail you won’t forget. Yes, it’s potent as the forums say, so I always recommend testing before buying. Unlike Montana or Giorgio, which I hated, I went crazy for this one. What strikes me most is the passion fruit, blackcurrants, a touch of mandarin, peach, bergamot, and neroli; the jasmine, ylang-ylang, and lily are my must-haves because I always love them, plus the lily root. The base of sandalwood, patchouli, musk, and vetiver is what gives it that ironclad persistence. I don’t detect vanilla or amber, but in the end, everyone smells it differently, and here the longevity is guaranteed.

I had this lotion because my best friend gave it to me when I turned 18… in my opinion, it’s a strong perfume and I would recommend it for older women. I had it because it was a gift, but I really didn’t like it because it was truly very strong. I agree that two applications are more than enough so as not to dizzy those around you… My recommendation is that if you want to get it, go to your store to smell it and make your decision… Best regards!

This is a very pleasant perfume, definitely 80s in its opulence and intensity. Despite its age and surely several reformulations, it doesn’t feel ‘old’, although due to its atomic bomb-like trail, you must be very careful not to overapply; one or two sprays are enough or you can dizzy others and bother sensitive noses. It’s very floral and sweet, but the sweet of before, not cloying, with tons of ingredients that make it hard to distinguish them separately at the start and in the heart notes, but they form a harmonious and feminine ensemble. What predominates from start to finish is the cedar; it’s one of the feminine scents I’ve smelled with the greatest presence and intensity of this note, bordering on excess. So if you don’t like cedar, don’t even try it; it can be too much. Personally, I’m not fascinated by this note, so it was hard for me to accept its protagonism, especially since I fix it a lot and I feel it almost bitter or animalic. It’s so intense that I confused it at first with civet; I realized that with just one spray well distributed over the whole body it’s enough to lower this note and make it tolerable. It’s worth getting used to because of how beautiful the fragrance is. It lasts a long time, more than 12 hours. You can feel the quality of its ingredients despite its low price; I think it’s an underrated fragrance, very well made but not as popular because in its time it had many unbeatable rivals and now tastes have changed a lot and such intensity is no longer used. It’s from an era when perfumes were perfumes and they were noticeable, not sugary, cloying, synthetic fruity-floral waters that come out every minute and all look alike. It’s for temperate or cold weather, for many occasions, from work to some semiformal or evening event. Not suitable for young girls; it requires some character to wear and falls within the classic without reaching ‘vintage’. I recommend it for people who suffer because perfumes don’t last on them. This one will surely last and meet their expectations. It’s one of the few that are worth more than they cost.

It’s a gem: smells incredible and lasts all day. The moment I apply it, I feel instantly noticed with a super charming, youthful trail that gives me energy. I feel unique with its scent.
