  Simple box, just like its sibling Casablanca: a sober, elegant, and discreet bottle with a plastic but heavy cap. That simplicity doesn’t hint at the beauty and complexity inside. Valencia opens with a citrus storm—a blast of green bergamot, lime, and green apple… a refreshing wave dominated by the intoxicating sweetness of ripe apples. At first, it hits hard, almost masculine, but it softens over time. I find it unisex and believe it’s one of the few scents suitable for any season. After the fruity notes, the flowers emerge: silky jasmine, full-on peonies, roses, and gardenias. It all blends with a powdery, ambered, and sweet dry-down that lasts for hours. The woody, musky, and amber base clings to the skin, while the sandalwood and apple linger on clothes for days. It has it all: fresh, floral, and fruity, yet also warm, sweet, and woody. A triumph of the usual Swiss Arabian quality.

  I don’t want to be unfair; I’m giving it another chance because I forgot the terrible experience it caused me. The opening was fatal—I literally ran to wash my arm for the first time. Don’t buy it blindly, and it’s definitely not for men. I also have my doubts about whether women would like it.
