Testing this fantastic fragrance today. A spectacular laugh, sweet, nuanced with tobacco and ambergris. I find it a perfect daily scent because it’s soft and discreet. Very unisex. Straight to my wishlist. Scent: 10, Longevity: 8, Sillage: 7, Value: 6, Versatility: 10, Overall: 9.
Tobacco Rose is gorgeous: opulent, melancholic, and full of presence. Not due to its trail, which is average, but because it’s the perfect companion for an important day when you want to stand out without being sweet or using intrusive oud. It’s a dry rose crowned by oakmoss, in a classic Chypre style, with ambergris that I’m already used to. Very versatile: suitable for informal gatherings, family events, or fresh spring walks. I don’t see it as festive, and I appreciate that it doesn’t feel like the beeswax, which can be harsh in other perfumes. Great longevity, lasting all day with just a few sprays. Very much in the Sisley style. What a beautiful gift.
After trying several Papillon fragrances and searching for the perfect rose-centric scent, I stumbled upon Tobacco Rosé. Liz Moores’ creations have a distinct signature, blending classic touches with natural ingredients that evoke bygone eras. This signature is present, yet it’s not an outdated fragrance; it’s completely modern and timeless. Despite the name, the star is the rose: a brilliant interpretation of a deep, fleshy red rose with fruity top notes and a jammy sensation thanks to beeswax and rose absolutes. The tobacco is merely a hint, with hay as the main accord, which is the only drawback if you were expecting more of that note. The weak point is the mid-stage, where it fades slightly after a wonderful opening to make way for hay and beeswax, until the dry-down brings the florals back with ambergris, resulting in something amazing. Despite this small hiccup, Tobacco Rose is a sophisticated, classy, and totally unisex perfume. Ideal for someone with experience and maturity, not so much for those seeking something sparklier. A beautiful scent that anyone with good taste can appreciate. One of my favorites. Cheers!
After exploring other Papillon fragrances in search of the great rose perfume, I found Tobacco Rosé. The weak point is the heart, where the scent fades slightly after a wonderful opening before yielding to hay and beeswax, until the dry down brings the floral back with ambergris, resulting in something magical.
