Ruh Al Sultanat is a spiced, woody incense that’s absolutely gorgeous. It has a terpene-like, fresh vibe with that opulent oriental touch—it’s amazing, very resinous and spicy, and yes, it smells a lot like Amouage’s Epic Man. It’s fairly linear with little evolution, which seems common for this house; out of the four I’ve tried, they’re all like this. It’s as if they took Epic’s opening and froze it in time, keeping that initial scent throughout the perfume’s entire life. I loved it; I really enjoy these kinds of aromas, and that non-smoky, terpene incense with a heap of spices over a woody base… I can’t say enough, I just adore it. Performance is a bit better than its sibling Tumbuktu, lasting about 7 hours on skin, though the trail is moderate to low from the start. It’s suited for cool and temperate climates due to its oriental soul, but since it’s inspired by Epic’s opening, it’s fresher and better for daytime wear, though it could work in summer too, just at night. Is it a good perfume? Yes. Would I recommend it? I’m not sure—it smells great and has acceptable longevity, but at 20€ plus 10€ shipping for 3ml, it feels excessive for what you get.
