Rahaf… another incredible find from Gulf Orchid. The packaging is understated, avoiding the typical flashiness of many Arab perfumes, with a stunning deep blue; the white bottle is heavy, beautiful, and elegant, topped with a solid cap that seals perfectly. Upon spraying, you immediately notice the high concentration of essential oils: the skin feels velvety. It opens with a blast of sweet, sparkling citrus, yet it’s not a typical citrus fragrance. Lime, tangerine, and bergamot create the sensation of drinking a sweet, fizzy soda, radiating joy and optimism. A luminous and refined scent. Rising above the green, acidic lime peels are Paraguayan jasmine and gardenia, followed by roses. These aren’t overpowering roses, but soft ones—like talcum powder or vintage makeup—latent and voluptuous right against the skin for hours. All the notes are bathed in a massive layer of heavy, warm honey, like when it’s poured over fresh pancakes, or like pharmacy caramels that bind and highlight everything. The cedar and patchouli base add a resinous, persistent, warm, and deep touch that makes it stand out among florals. Rahaf is super refined, feminine, sensual, and elegant; it evolves incredibly well, lasting and projecting more than expected. I see it as suitable for any season and occasion. The quality-to-price ratio is optimal. It smells a lot like Elie Saab’s Le Parfum, though perhaps the difference becomes more noticeable in the dry-down after a few hours; but given the price, you can reapply Rahaf guilt-free as much as you need. A great discovery—I’m now a huge fan.
