Descripción

Nautica by Nautica is a woody chypre fragrance for men. Launched in 1992 by the brand Nautica, this composition was created under an olfactory direction that defines its fresh and marine character. The top notes unfold with aldehydes, lime, lemon, bergamot, neroli, cypress, tarragon, clary sage, cilantro, and cinnamon. The heart of the fragrance reveals jasmine, cyclamen, geranium, rose, and caraway. Finally, the base notes settle with sandalwood, musk, cedar, oakmoss, patchouli, and amber.

This fragrance takes me back to my naval cadet days. Back then, I wore Lagerfeld Photo, Shiseido Tactics (an ’80s bottle with little liquid left), and Calvin Klein’s Eternity. My colleagues smelled like Lacoste (one officer literally drowned in it), Obsession by Calvin Klein, and of course, this Nautica. We looked impeccable from tip to toe. Outside school, it was a parade of girls—even a future Miss Venezuela was friends with a classmate. Plus, we sailed through warm port and coastal areas. Despite all that olfactory competition, I fondly remember this fragrance that honored our future careers. It always seemed delicate, subtle, and elegant, with that sporty/nautical touch azuriiita described so well. Later, someone gifted me a 35ml (or maybe 30ml, can’t remember) bottle, and I used it up in no time. Today, I plan to buy it again to update my olfactory memory and recall those times of illusions, projects, and active military youth. Fragrances are bottles full of memories. Today, I want to analyze it note by note like I do on this site. Another great underrated gem in the industry.

It transports me back to my naval cadet days, when I wore Lagerfeld Photo, Shiseido Tactics, and Eternity while my colleagues smelled like Lacoste and Obsession. We were impeccable, dating the misses, and visiting ships in warm zones. This fragrance was delicate, subtle, and had that nautical elegance that azuriiita described. I used it up in no time, and now I miss it to update my olfactory memory and recall those times of illusions and military youth. It’s an underrated gem full of memories.

It smells like my adolescence: cypress, cilantro, citrus, patchouli, and cinnamon were my favorites. However, the current Coty version is disappointing; it’s not the 1992 original anymore. It smells like aldehydes with very poor rose and jasmine.

  • Edhug Duemar

Bought it blindly and it was a total mistake. You can’t expect much at this price, but there are cheaper and better options out there. Of the described notes, I barely detect a few; it smells more like soap than perfume, and I didn’t like it at all. Longevity and sillage are terrible.

  • Well, here in Colombia it’s hard to find, so I just happened to spot it in a mall and bought it without hesitation. Nautica is my favorite brand for price-to-quality ratio; for this price point, the quality is good. The fragrance captures that classic Nautica identity: cleanliness, vacation vibes, the sea, and crystal-clear water, just like @ShiseidoTactics experienced with it. The dominant notes are aldehydes, which give it a slightly synthetic touch, but the citrus adds that refreshing nautical vibe, accompanied by cilantro spices and a soft woody dry down. I bought it because it pairs well with Voyage; I think these two are the best from the house. Weather: Summer. Scent: 8/10. Longevity: 8/10. Nice bottle. Recommended.

  • Well, here in Colombia it’s hard to find, so I just happened to spot it in a mall and bought it without hesitation. To start: Nautica is my favorite brand for price-to-quality ratio; for its low price, the quality is good. Regarding the fragrance, it conveys the identity that characterizes Nautica: a sensation of cleanliness, vacation vibes, the sea, and crystal-clear water. Also, it resembles the experience @ShiseidoTactics had with it, for which I congratulate them on that nice anecdote. Speaking of notes, aldehydes are predominant, which is why it feels a bit synthetic, along with citrus that gives that nautical freshness, accompanied by cilantro spices and a soft woody dry down. I also bought it because it pairs well with Voyage from the same brand; I think these two are the best from the house. Weather: Summer. Scent: 8/10. Longevity: 8/10. Nice bottle. Recommended! Cheers.

Bought it because I liked the scent in the blind test—it was very soft and reminded me of the beach. The downside is that its longevity is almost 30 minutes and its sillage is very poor; I felt ripped off. I wouldn’t recommend it for future purchases. When I exercise, my pH changes, and in the end, the shampoo scent lasted longer than this perfume, which also smells more opaque.

Bought it because I liked it in the blind test. It smells soft and brings me back to the beach, but the longevity is a disaster—barely 30 minutes with almost no sillage. I felt ripped off. I wouldn’t recommend it for future purchases. Also, when I work out, my pH changes, and in the end, the shampoo lasted longer than this perfume, which smells like soap.

The fragrance reminds me of one my wife wears; too feminine for my taste. It’s not that it smells bad, it just doesn’t suit me. The trail is good, but the longevity is very short. In my opinion, the floral notes dominate the citrus and wood, which is why it feels feminine. Scent 7/10, trail 7/10, longevity 5/10.

  • A very masculine, woody, elegant, fresh, and versatile fragrance. Definitely one of Nautica’s best; I recommend it. It has an excellent trail and longevity; it shouldn’t be missing from any fragrance lover’s collection. Hopefully, they don’t discontinue it.

  • I absolutely love it. It’s true that its longevity and trail are very low, but I keep buying it, even in packs of two. It’s the only fragrance I worry about not having a backup of. Given its price, don’t expect many hours of wear time.

  • Highly synthetic, with an annoying marine character. I got it from a brother who passed away, and my mom gave it to me just as a keepsake, but the fragrance is unpleasant.

  • For me, this nautical fragrance is one of the most elegant. Right after spraying, the lime, cypress, and bergamot notes stand out, well-balanced and accompanying you until the dry down, which clings closely to the skin because its longevity is short. At the end, it feels mossy, woody, and green. It’s recommended for post-shower use. I give it 5/10 because you need to overapply it repeatedly if you want it to be noticeable.

  • Jorge Torres

It’s a good fragrance—fresh and clean. Just apply a lot so it lasts and you can tell you’re wearing it. For its price and brand, it’s excellent, without a doubt. It shouldn’t be missing from your perfume collection.

  • Lucifer2409

It’s not a fantastic scent, but it’s not bad either. It smells soapy, clean, and fresh—ideal for going out without too much impact, like going for a walk or visiting a friend to chat and laugh. It’s not sexy; it’s a scent that makes you feel freshly showered. If you’re looking for something for daily use, I recommend it.

  • It’s not a fantastic scent, but it’s not bad either. It smells soapy, clean, and is great for a low-impact outing, like a walk or visiting a friend to chat and laugh. It’s not sexy; it smells like you just took a shower. If you’re looking for something for daily use, I recommend it.

  • Calschpenalista

It’s a very rich fragrance, though like most nautical scents, it has a synthetic touch that’s still pleasant—soapy, clean, and neat. The floral notes are well-balanced, creating an impeccable gentleman aura. To make it last 6 hours, you need to apply it without regrets, around 15 sprays; otherwise, it fades in 3-4. The trail is short, not a bomb, but perfect for the office, workouts, or those days when you don’t want to overthink your perfume choice.

A very rich fragrance. I must clarify that, like most nautical scents, it feels synthetic, but it’s pleasant—soapy, clean, and neat, with well-balanced floral notes that create an aura of an impeccable man. To make it last 6 hours, you need to apply it without regrets: about 15 sprays. Then it disappears after 3-4 hours. The sillage is short; it’s not a bomb, but it’s ideal for the office or for sports, perfect for those days when you don’t want to complicate things by choosing a perfume.

  • It’s a very pleasant, summery, and versatile fragrance within its category, but very short-lived and with weak projection. It’s for bringing it on beach vacations or to the office and reapplying every 2 hours, but its online price is between $12 and $15 dollars, so…

  • Nicolasblair2

It was one of my first fragrances; I loved it without a doubt; at 14-15 years old, I felt super sexy with that clean and youthful scent, a fundamental piece in my teenage conquests. You won’t find the elixir of life here, but if you want to smell good on a day when you won’t do much and don’t want to impress an entire room, then buy it without thinking twice.

  • daniiecrowley

This fragrance splits into two parts: one clean and slightly soapy, and another slightly sweet; at times, it makes me think it has Invictus vibes. In a parallel world, where this fragrance had better longevity, it would be excellent for the office, school, teaching, or driving for an app; it would be perfect at several levels; you can wear it with a white shirt, casually, and always have this clean and slightly sweet part, nothing suffocating. The reality is that, while the opening is a bit old school, I feel that as a 90s fragrance, anyone can wear it, but the uses I’d give it would be quite limited: gym use (air-conditioned), after a gym shower, or for when there are visitors or going to the supermarket, something that shouldn’t go beyond 3 hours. The first projection will be strong, the second drops to skin level and from there it will extend for half an hour, hopefully a third, but that’s it. If you collect Nautica fragrances, then this is the one that started it all, but for me, while I like it a lot, its performance leaves much to be desired. As a note, it reminds me, only the soapy part of Perry Ellis 18.

  • HarryPSG82

Its opening is strong and slightly irritating, but if you use it, you know where it’s going. Strong opening with a pleasant, medium-longevity that doesn’t get boring, making you feel fresh, and the dry-down is soft, delicious, and long-lasting. I sweat a lot, but from morning until 5 PM it persists on my skin and a bit more on my clothes. This super classic will never die; I used to find it too strong and synthetic, but if you give it a chance to evolve, it’s a citrus and clean beast that doesn’t project wildly; when people get close, it smells very delicious. I bought it as a daily fragrance, but I’ve noticed it’s not worth using up so quickly. It’s perfect for smelling good in season and warm areas. It’s one of my favorite fragrances or skin care items in my dry tropical zone. Soon it will run out, and I won’t hesitate to buy this Nautica Classic and the Voyage again to finish it faster. Nautica Classic is a masculine aroma, while Voyage is more youthful, cheerful, and sweet. For God’s sake, if you apply it on your arms, where the arm meets the forearm, and on the neck, ufff, it smells delicious.

  • Clean, soapy, and mentholated, reminiscent of shaving products (gel, foam, aftershave). Does anyone else smell that?

  • Alan S. Ulloa

The 2018 batch doesn’t last on me at all; 16+ sprays and it barely lasts 2-3 hours. It smells very clean, like detergent soap, but rich.

  • Nautica Classic eau de toilette, a delicious, pleasant, and soft fragrance with a clean soap-like sensation, fresh and floral; on my skin, the jasmine stands out. It’s a linear synthetic fragrance that I enjoy despite its short duration and moderate sillage. To use it on hot days, you have to over-apply it. Cheers.

  • Marlon DG

My second fragrance from the nautical line, very fresh and aquatic, especially with a seawater vibe and a mentholated touch. When I bought it, I thought it wasn’t original because of its poor longevity; it didn’t last long on my skin. It gives the sensation of just stepping out of the shower, very fresh and clean. Ideal for young people who want to wear a perfume for high school or college.

  • Darwinter

I use it as a soapy base for sleeping, or mix it with Nishane Ege during the day, and it’s pure glory. 20 sprays under clothes and on the neck, let it dry, then apply the niche version behind the ears and on the sides of the neck… WOW! A clean marine explosion! I suppose it’s similar with other fresh marinades, but on its own, it’s not enough.

  • HUACHIPATO EDP

Fresh and soapy, but it doesn’t last long. Perfect for heading to the gym or right after a shower.

  • Distraction

I live on the coast with 32-degree heat, and while this fragrance lacks much projection or longevity, I see it as personal. Something you apply to feel fresh for about 3 or 4 hours. The clean scent is very pleasant, and the short duration is a pro because if you need to go somewhere formal, you can easily take it off.

  • Not worth it for me: terrible longevity, bad scent, and even worse projection. Longevity 1, Scent 4.5, Projection 1.5.

  • FherZamudio

Nautica Classic lasts less than a breath. You spray it 20 times and it’s gone in under an hour. It smells like soap, meant for after a shower.

  • EnriqueSeguraJ

Verdict: It smells good, though I suspect it was stale in the store. Smelled it on someone else and it’s more than acceptable and marine. On my skin, it smelled fine, although I think people prefer Voyage or Blue. The longevity was good. At one point, I smelled plastic bags. I recommend it for collection or variety; in bulk, it starts from $12 for 100 ml. Among brands, only Antonio Banderas beats it in its 200 ml presentations at $20.

  • Reminds me of coumarin or tonka bean, very similar to cinnamon but stronger. It blends beautifully with that powdery musk, bergamot, and wood notes.

  • Gengibrol

At first, it smells like glass cleaner with a strong plastic note. The wood is minimal; it’s more aquatic. Depending on the batch, sometimes it smells like patchouli. It was cheap, mass-market, and adventurous from the nineties, without being a clone or standing out.

  • Andres de la T

If you catch it on sale, it smells ‘okay,’ but not as good as others. There are better options, and it doesn’t last long: on my skin, it lasted between one and one and a half hours.

  • Lightweight and not suitable for all climates; good for daytime wear, but if you wear it at night, it just lingers. Ideal if you have nothing else for gift exchange.
