There are scents that I love in a particular way and that, although in alternating phases, have always been part of my life. For a long time I thought it was only personal taste, subjective preference, but after studying a little aromatherapy I realized that the aromatic world is much more complex than one normally thinks and very connected to the deepest part of our being, that part of which we are often not fully conscious. I really enjoy discovering, studying and writing about little-known old school creations, known only to a very select audience, pieces of stories made with a quality and care that are no longer imaginable today. In particular, I am passionate about works created away from massive industrial schemes and often the result of a personal path and/or a precise life choice. I am fascinated to know what led the artist (because I consider those who work this way to be artists) to create a particular fragrance or product line, and what reasons led him to choose those raw materials and not others, creating something unique that defies the passage of time. Even without bothering the great and historic perfume manufacturers with their unforgettable works, there are other perfumes that I have had the good fortune to cross paths with that can make me feel deep emotions. Mark Cross Eau de Cologne is a delight. The aroma is truly very special, especially good, with a lot of character and charm. A strong masculine fragrance, surprisingly good. One that immediately attracts attention, exuberant, almost carnal, in the sense that it is an eau de cologne that leaves a trail that many EDTs today can only dream of. I have to admit that I love amber fragrances; they make me think of positive things; in winter I have to wear them often. They capture me with the feeling of warmth with which they wrap you. From the beginning I smell a deep, golden and truly exquisite amber that at some point seems bathed in honey, well accompanied by citrus, ethereal, tart, sweet and spicy notes that form a truly pleasant olfactory combination. The bergamot works well for several minutes over a bittersweet base, then the composition becomes a balanced, creamy and well-intertwined blend with woody building blocks and a very central tobacco base. It is also slightly metallic in the base, and together with a woody and sweet tone, it gives a unique experience. Once distributed by Helena Rubinstein, it is somewhat difficult to find, but in my case it is an absolute recommendation if you are comfortable in the realm of classic proposals, one of the few that, when applied, always gives you the feeling of being at home.
