Descripción

Fall of Phaeton by Argos is an oriental woody fragrance for men and women. This creation, launched in 2024, unfolds an olfactory pyramid where the top notes combine ginger, cardamom, lemon, bergamot, and pink pepper. The heart of the composition reveals labdanum, lavender, and oud wood, while the base notes settle with leather, tonka bean, vanilla, and musk.

So far my favorite from the brand, surpassing Danaë and leaving Adonis Awakens and Triumph of Bacchus far behind, even though the latter two are famous. You can tell that Brivido della caccia, Bacio immortale, and Pour Homme don’t even come close. In the background, it smells similar to ToB, probably due to the tonka, vanilla, and musk (the last one it shares with Danaë), but it goes in a different direction and feels deeper and more intense on my skin. Its longevity is greater than the other fragrances in this Argos family with that characteristic DNA. That intensity makes it ideal for autumn or winter and ventilated areas, because in enclosed spaces it can be very strong and overwhelming, though the scent is splendid. I associate it with semi-formal or formal wear; I don’t see it with shorts or bermudas. It’s perfect for select events and personal enjoyment is exceptional. If you don’t know Argos, it’s worth trying without buying blind.

Hidden but incredible, it’s my second favorite after ToB, though it comes very close. If you catch it on sale, it’s yours 100%. It’s not truly fresh; it’s complex, dense, and powerful. Only the opening with ginger, citrus, and pepper gives that fresh sensation, but then it surprises you with a 180-degree turn toward something dark, very pleasant, with notes of oud, musk, tonka bean, and vanilla. It’s simply spectacular. It excels in every way. Almost 90% unisex, versatile but intense for summer, perhaps too much; better for formal or semi-formal occasions because it projects a lot. Scent: 9, Longevity: 9, Sillage: 9, Price: 252€ (but there are sales). EDIT: I already have it for 180€ and confirm: it’s marvelous!

A hidden treasure of the brand and the world of perfumery. My second favorite (nothing beats ToB, but this comes dangerously close). If you catch it on sale, you’re getting it 100%. It seems fresh, but don’t be fooled: it’s not light at all. It’s complex, dense, and powerful. The opening is the only fresh part: ginger, citrus, and pepper, a classic start that makes you take a 180-degree turn without noticing: something darker, elegant (don’t let the oud scare you, it smells amazing), woody, with tonka bean and vanilla. Incredible. It excels in every way. Unisex, almost 90%. Versatility is average. For me, it lacks a bit of intensity in summer; it could be overwhelming. I see it more for formal or semi-formal occasions; dress up for it. Scent: 9 Longevity: 9 Sillage: 9 Price: 252 euros/100ml (always on sale). EDIT: I finally got mine for 180 euros and confirm: IT’S MARVELOUS!

  • An absolute gem, undoubtedly the house’s greatest hidden treasure deserving more praise than its siblings: it’s worth every euro for its quality, longevity, and sillage. It’s elegant, not loud, and a magnet for compliments. One of the few blind buys I can genuinely recommend in niche perfumery.

It arrived and on the first sniff I thought, ‘This sounds like something I already own!’. After giving it a few whiffs, I confirmed it smells like Hugo Boss Bottled Intense. This Argos version is great; once I’ve tested it a couple more times, I’ll come back with a full review.
