  Del Mar Marbella Edition is an amber-centric fragrance, with amber serving as its backbone. The initial impression is tonal, dominated by citrusy amber notes and a synthetic undertone from the base amber; the vetiver is barely noticeable but adds a sweet, slightly green edge. It smells like a friend describing an apricot that eventually wraps around a sweet woody base. It’s a counterintuitive scent, like trendy jazz: Marbella is a complex piece that requires some distance to reveal its beautiful, subtle, and refined phase. Its performance is linear, with its best moments in the late afternoon to evening, regardless of the season. Projection is moderate, lasting about 6 hours. Highly recommended not to be fooled by its subtlety, as overapplication ruins that lovely mid-stage. I don’t see it as coherent with the Del Mar series’ concept of a mature, well-rounded man, since it smells quite unisex. Maybe it’s not a must-have, but I liked the box, bottle, and scent as a whole. Currently discontinued.
