Jo Malone’s Myrrh & Lavender is a beast: it reminds me of Armani Eau pour Homme, YSL Y EDP, or Boucheron, with powerful citrus and herbs that flood the entire house. Then it tames that brash hesperidic vibe to reveal a floral and spicy heart where the myrrh really starts to shine. As it dries, you get cold, almost mentholated spices with a cool balsamic finish like Prada Amber Intense. Projection is low, but you’ll definitely smell yourself or get noticed when someone shakes your hand; with heat, it comes back in bursts. It lasts 6-8 hours, with the last 4 clinging to the skin. The initial power promise fades quickly, but the first four hours are a treat worth it. Perfect for daytime after a good shower and well-hydrated skin: apply generously, it’s allowed and even required, and you’ll have an amazing morning. It’s a bit classic, suited for well-dressed men 25+ with pressed shirts and polished shoes. If you catch it at a good price, max $130, it’s absolutely worth it.
The opening of Jo Malone’s Myrrh and Lavender reminds me of Armani Eau pour Homme, YSL L’Homme Haute Concentration, or Boucheron Pour Homme: citrusy, herbal, with a pristine, very organic lavender. It’s wonderful and powerful, filling not just a room but the entire house. Gradually, that bold, zesty opening fades to give way to a very cool floral and spicy heart; you can already tell the myrrh is pushing from the depths. As it dries, cold spices appear, almost mentholated. The dry-down is a cool balsamic trail, similar to Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense. By the end, the projection isn’t as strong, but it’s noticeable on the wearer itself, in a hug or a greeting. If it’s hot or your body warms up, the fragrance revives with bursts. It lasts about 6 to 8 hours, with the last 4 hours staying on the skin. The promise of power in the opening fades quickly, but the enjoyment of the first 4 hours is worth it. Ideal for daytime, in the morning after a rich bath and hydrated skin; applying generously isn’t just allowed, it’s mandatory, and you’ll have an amazing morning. With a classic cut, I see it as ideal for men 25 and up, well-dressed without being overly elegant, definitely calling for a well-ironed shirt and nice polished shoes. If you find it at a reasonable price, max $130, then it’s definitely worth it.
Looking for a gentleman’s scent? You’ve found it. It smells like a freshly showered white man with a sharp beard, courtesy of Roger & Gallet’s lavender. This is the kind of guy who wears cashmere and wool, no polyester in sight. He wears custom-made shoes, rides horses, and you’re dying for his handkerchief. Very elegant with a touch of sexiness. If you like what I just said, then yes. I want to wear it, but I’ll have to add some floral or fruity notes. I’m thinking of pairing it with Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Vetiver. Let’s see what happens.
Looking for a gentleman’s scent? Stop searching. Roger & Gallet Lavender smells like a freshly bathed and shaved white gentleman. It’s the type who wears cashmere and wool, never polyester. He wears bespoke shoes, rides horses, and you’re dying for his handkerchief. Very elegant with a sexy touch. If you like what I just said, then it’s for you. I want to wear it, but I’ll have to add some floral or fruity notes. I’m planning to pair it with Guerlain’s Nerolia Vetiver. Let’s see what happens.
