Born into the world of perfumery, Michel Roudnitska spent his childhood exploring his parents’ laboratory, where scents and fragrances became his native language. His father, the legendary perfumer Edmond Roudnitska, creator of iconic fragrances such as “Femme” by Rochas, “Eau Sauvage” and “Diorissimo” by Dior, introduced Michel to the art of perfume composition. Michel’s creative spirit, however, sought to expand beyond the world of scent, leading him to become a photographer and director.
In 1997, Michel founded the creation studio Art & Parfum, where he continued his father’s legacy by creating perfumes with great aesthetic rigor. Like his father, Michel always considered the making of perfumes as a form of art, which he refined through extensive travels, focusing on the art of spices and exotic woods.
Michel Roudnitska’s unique approach to perfumery extends beyond creating fragrances, making him an interdisciplinary researcher. He has worked as an image creator for jewelers, perfumers, and publishing companies. His multisensory talents led him to create olfactory concerts, ballets, perfumed operas, and even attractions for theme parks. These varied experiences allowed him to develop an original method for translating scents into images, enabling better communication between perfume creators and users.
Michel has specialized in creating fine fragrances for luxury “niche” brands such as Frederic Malle, Parfums DelRae, Ellie Perfume, among others. His most popular creations include Frederic Malle Noir Epices, Parfums DelRae Bois de Paradis, and Parfums DelRae Amoureuse. In addition to creating fragrances, Michel often personally handles the design and photography of the brands he works with.
Since 2010, Michel has been actively involved in humanitarian efforts to protect the Amazon rainforest and native indigenous culture through the association “Coeur de Forêt”.
Michel Roudnitska’s contributions to the world of perfumery are as unique and valuable as those of his father. His interdisciplinary approach and artistic vision, combined with his commitment to aesthetic rigor and the art of perfume, have established his place as a master perfumer. While he continues to innovate and challenge the boundaries of this art form, the fragrance community eagerly awaits his future creations.
