Perfumer
Kevin Scozzaro
Relaxed and calm, New Jersey native Kevin admits that "he stumbled into perfumery by accident," initially taking a production role at a fragrances company that promised to fund his return to his studies after a period studying liberal arts at a community college. Kevin describes his beginnings as “humble,” having held several construction jobs while studying. It was while working as a perfumer’s assistant that Kevin realized his passion for perfumery and built up his extensive knowledge. Now, Kevin, a graduate of a perfumery school, enjoys working across all categories rather than being "boxed in." It is this inherent “freedom” of the perfumer’s profession that Kevin enjoys, where “no two days are the same.” Adopting a mostly linear approach to his designs, Kevin nonetheless experiments within the categories he is most familiar with. Enthusiastic about “men’s fragrances,” Kevin prefers masculine facets, centered on amber and woods—specifically Ambrofix—both for its effectiveness in small doses and for its versatility across a range of applications. Less conventional, however, is Kevin’s fondness for the scents of “gasoline, engine-oil grease, and cigar smoke,” which he attributes to memories of his grandfather, who owned a mechanical workshop. A man of many talents—surfing, golf, drums, and martial arts—and of multiple interests—drinking bourbon and smoking cigars—Kevin seeks professional inspiration “from other people, whether it’s their stories, their travels, or their thoughts and experiences.”
