Vetiver and frankincense, with way more vetiver than frankincense, plus some smoky, slightly aggressive spicy notes. Weird that it’s not listed, but for me it’s the star note—a very natural vetiver. Am I mixing it up with something? It feels like a dry version of Ground Control from the same line. The metallic notes are super subtle, with shy syrupy nuances. You can definitely smell the cumin, giving it that fuzzy, warm wool scarf texture. It doesn’t drive me crazy; I see it as just another amber. Smoky, rough, dry, and spicy, with a tiny mystical touch, but very little, since the brand wants to play with sci-fi, not fantasy. Maybe if it were more metallic, it would have been more fun, but We Are The Martians lets itself go and it’s cute. The downside is that as it dries down, it loses its identity and settles into pure frankincense, though that lingering frankincense is beautiful, even if other scents do it better.
