Today I tried Passion of Venice and was surprised by how adult it smells right from the first spray. No youthful sweetness or sugary notes aimed at the masses; here, the sweetness is serious—more amber than sugar, more velvet than cotton. The opening is warm with a fruity touch, like an acidic plum in liqueur. Soon, the floral heart emerges, with jasmine sweetened by patchouli and spicy notes that give it character. It’s in the dry down where it shines: woods, amber, and resins create a nocturnal, sensual, and elegant scent. Sweet, yes, but not glam, cute, or gourmand, and definitely not dessert-like. In short, it’s a serious, warm, and elegant perfume for those seeking sensuality without excess. Great longevity, good sillage, and a well-executed oriental aesthetic.
