Hard to beat this performance; zero alcohol, and from the very first second it smells like soft tobacco, reminiscent of Avant Garde or Volutes. They say the brandy uses an absolute worth $19,000 a kilo, but I don’t smell brandy, just texture and character. It’s linear, with subtle sweet threads where tobacco takes the lead and caramel or vanilla play secondary roles. Maybe the woods and bergamot emerge more in the deep dry-down, when the sweetness fades and you might catch a salty note. Two sprays lasted me about 7 hours and I got two compliments. I don’t usually spend this much on perfume, but I have to admit, it’s really good.
