  Smells good, but it has those slightly dirty nuances it shares with Ylang Tabac from the house, which also didn’t win me over. From the start, it feels quite blended, so the name can be misleading; fresh notes like neroli or bergamot dominate, but there’s still that underlying dirty vibe. Over time, the freshness fades to let the rose and vanilla take center stage. It feels like good quality, though I don’t find it very projecting at first (I tested Ylang Tabac on someone else, which is the only way to judge projection, and it was noticeable there). This one doesn’t list castoreum like the other, but it shares the musk that can also suggest that dirtiness; in fact, it’s been that way until white musks came along to give a clean impression, though to me they tend to smell powdery. It’s decent, but the outrageous price combined with the fact that it doesn’t really make me fall in love means I’m moving on to something else. I see that Ambrette Rose and Jasmin Cuir also list castoreum and musk, so maybe that background note is present in those two as well and is the house’s signature.
