  I started by checking the notes: rose, sandalwood, cedar… what a surprise! But it’s not that surprising. It’s not original, though it has some interesting flaws. It’s basically Boss Bottled filtered through current trends. While the original bothers my nose (vodka, raspberry, vanilla), I actually like this Mandarina Duck for Man. It smells like a photo from early digital cameras: late 90s, masculine, nocturnal, fresh, and metrosexual. The opening reminds me of Desire (one of the best of its time), but worse: a flashy, fresh, acidic, sweet, fruity, vibrant, and mentholated rose. Then the woody blend is gorgeous with a sweeter rose, but then a very ripe, soft, powdery, juiceless apple creeps in. It reminds me too much of Boss Bottled. Is there a hint of cinnamon? At times it feels like a refined, 90s-style 1 Million or a masculine Dolce Vita. If it had less apple, I’d like it more. Overall, it’s an interesting proposal from a beloved brand looking back at other times. Personally, it doesn’t interest me, but it’s cheap, doesn’t smell cheap, and has good longevity. Edit from August 8: the longevity is magnificent. I woke up nine hours after four sprays, and not only could I smell it on myself, but it left a trail.
