  1. The only downside to collecting perfumes, besides the cost and space, is that you eventually forget what you own. This happened with Gres Monsieur, which I picked up years ago at a flea market. I used it a couple of times and today, happily, I found it again while organizing a shelf. It seems they no longer produce it. To me, it’s a classic fougère, very much from the early 80s, and it stays true to Paco Rabanne Pour Homme. It shares that wet forest vibe, though Gres is a bit spicier and has more citrus brightness. The longevity lasts all day, and the projection beats the current average. If you want to know what it is, compare it to Paco Rabanne Pour Homme—they’re very similar. But this Gres has a depth and nuance that the current PR lacks. In its style, it’s excellent. Buy without hesitation if you find it at a good price. Rating: 9/10

  2. I love it. It’s super citrusy and very 80s, perfect for unwinding on spring afternoons, and that blue striped box looks so authentically 1982…
