  I’ve never tried other fig perfumes from Roger & Gallet, but I’ve heard this one is similar to their latest. Fig is a tricky note—it’s powerful and tends to overpower everything else, leaving behind a sticky blend. I hate it; sometimes it even gives me a headache or makes me dizzy. Depending on the day, my hunger, or whether I’m already in pain, I just don’t consider it an essential. While I might enjoy it occasionally, I usually find it stubborn, repetitive, and heavy. This version lacks nuance; Feuille de Figuier is nothing but a hangover of fig. What’s interesting is that I struggle to find the brand’s usual crystal-clear, radiant naturalness. The opening is an abomination: instead of green fig, it smells like a bonfire with wood and sweet-tart red fruits. The dry down abandons the brand’s lovely citrus notes for ultra-sticky, gourmand-style fragrances à la Lancôme. Is it gourmand? I’m not sure, but it clashes with my style; it’s a rough fig that reminds me of vulgar perfumes with pink ribbons and stoppers. It doesn’t fit, but that’s what it is. It lasts quite well for an EDT—the first hour is so intense it feels like it’s burning your eyes out, then it mellows and seems to reveal a more realistic fig with floral nuances. I don’t detect neroli or petit grain; all I smell is a radioactive, fluorescent fig, burning in an acidic sweetness, perhaps with a hint of lemon that keeps it tart until the end. Worth it for lovers of the family because it lasts, smells distinct, and there’s always room for one more. P.S.: The bottle surprised me; they usually take care of their packaging, but this is a cheap plastic job with stripes that looks shoddy.
