  Another purchase that makes me question their quality. At first, it smells like talcum powder and citrus-green, hinting at an animalic-synthetic base that eventually takes over. Once dry, it smells like a nasty synthetic fixative I’ve noticed in many perfumes before, one my nose just rejects. On the plus side, it transports you: I feel like an old man who just sucked on a green lime. Longevity? Like a life sentence. A truly unique experience. Give the oudh a pass: get rid of it.

Once it dries down, it smells like a horrid synthetic fixative I’ve noticed in many perfumes that my nose just rejects. On the plus side, it transports you: I feel like an old man who just sucked on a green lemon. Longevity! Like a life sentence. A truly unique experience. Give the oudh a pass: get rid of it.

  Floral notes dominate; I don’t detect anything citrusy. It’s very feminine, not really unisex, but since I like taking risks, I’ll give it a try. It smells Arabic, powerful, yet lacks both longevity and density. For the price, it’s a solid option within Afnan. On women, it’s more conventional, while on men it feels ambiguous and surprising. Even if I don’t say it outright, it smells like rose—all floral, with slightly unrefined notes and a hint of chemical aftertaste, but I still like it. It’s interesting when cold. I imagine the price will rise as it gains media traction. I insist, it’s not for everyone because it’s so distinctly Arab.
