I jumped in blind with this Amber Wood after falling for its sibling, Incense Wood, and I nailed it. I thought it was risky to repeat with the Arab house, so I went for the 50ml to mitigate potential damage, but it turned out to be the worst decision of all because it’s pure bliss. It opens with an explosive green apple, pepper, lavender, and cardamom; it sounds like Layton but matches its quality and evolves into something more amber and sweet without losing that apple until it fades. Ajmal’s W line is light years away from the norm. Strong projection at the start, then a personal bubble. Versatile, elegant, and perfect for anyone who wants it, a true fragrance bomb.

I went blind-buying this Amber Wood after falling for its sibling Incense Wood, and what a win. I thought repeating with an Arab house was risky, so I grabbed the 50ml to minimize potential damage, but that was the worst decision of all because it’s pure bliss. It opens with an explosive green apple, pepper, lavender, and cardamom; it sounds like Layton but matches its quality while evolving into something more amber and sweet without losing that apple note until the very end. Ajmal’s W line is light years ahead of the usual stuff. Strong projection at first, then a nice personal bubble. Versatile, elegant, and perfect for anyone who wants it—a true masterpiece.

I haven’t worn it much, but I think it’s a great substitute for Alexandria II. Unlike Xerjoff, the talc-like iris here is very interesting. While Alexandria still wins on quality and longevity, this version is cleaner and less loud, perhaps more interesting for some.

Greetings from RD: I’m wearing this for the third time and writing this while smelling it. WAOOO. The refinement and development are magical. Incredible quality and a soft evolution. I bought it blind based on a recommendation and it was a total hit. Scent: 11/10, Sillage: 9/10, Longevity: 9/10.

Fragrance friends: This gem reminds me of Mugler’s Pure Malt, but Ajmal makes its mark with that iris and powdery talc sensation. It’s like an Austrian symphony playing Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture; it doesn’t just match the rival, it surpasses it in ostentatious quality. The notes are like fine silk wrapping you passionately. A living olfactory poem, featuring carved woods, amber, apple, patchouli, cardamom, and pepper at their absolute peak. Ajmal is reliable; this W collection is niche art. Scent: 11/10, Projection: Very good, Longevity: 8-10h. Highly recommended.

Thanks to Raúl, a friend living in the Emirates, who gifted me a decant and said I’d love it. The next day, I didn’t understand it at all; it smelled different from usual, more bitter and soft. The magic lies in that spiced oriental woody base. Months later, during lockdown, I relearned how to smell: the cedar smells freshly sawn, the spices freshly added. The opening is confusing, but at an hour and a half, it explodes into woods and amber that lasts 8-10 hours with just a few sprays. Its secret is the quality and blending. Buy blind if you’re an oriental lover who wants to enjoy without being intrusive. Imagine St. Sophia or the streets of Istanbul. If you love Acqua di Gio or One Million, stay away.
